Talented filmmaker/animator Dustin Grella has been creating short animations from messages he receives on his answering machine.  We especially enjoyed this short clip and not just because it has a 90-year-old woman with a lonely libido.

Below is an introduction to his project called Animation Hotline:

It looks like we aren’t the only ones stalking Mr. Grella.  He has recently been invited to create a full-feature film for the Cannes Film Festival based on the ideas from his voice-mail animations.

The big news most recently is that it’s been included to screen as a part of a feature film at the Cannes Film Festival in late May. The topic of the film is ‘The Other’ and I’m sending out a request for people to leave messages that use ‘The Other’ as the concept behind the message (I’m putting a more detailed description of what ‘the other’ might mean at the bottom of the email). If you participate, please leave your name because for this one I am going to need to get a signed waiver. I’ll need to put you in the credits of the film!!!
